Updated October 2026. Ratings and review counts are as shown on each app's Shopify App Store listing. Pricing and features come from each app's own pricing page and help documentation. Integration details come from each app's documentation and Loop's help centre. All verified October 16, 2026. Full sourcing note at the end.
Most loyalty apps get chosen on a free trial and regretted on the first overage invoice. The plan you install on is rarely the plan you end up paying for, because the features that matter (VIP tiers, subscription rewards, an integration with your subscription app) tend to sit two tiers up.
For a subscription brand there's a second trap: an app that awards points at checkout and nothing on a renewal. Your subscribers are your highest-order-count customers, yet under most loyalty apps they earn the least.
This guide compares six Shopify loyalty apps on both problems: what each one costs at your order volume, which plan the features you need actually sit on, and what each does with a recurring order. All six integrate with Loop. Loop isn't a loyalty app and isn't ranked here.
We compared six things, all checkable:
Where an app doesn't publish something, we say "not published" rather than estimate. No app paid for inclusion or placement.
What it is. Bubblehouse is a loyalty platform founded in 2020 for DTC, ecommerce and enterprise consumer brands. It reports 600+ brands, 150M+ loyalty members enrolled, and $1B+ in revenue driven. It covers points, tiers, referrals, gamified achievements, and omnichannel loyalty across web, app, POS and receipt upload. Clients named on its site include Mattel, MaryRuth's, Lemme, American Girl and Old Spice. It is SOC 2 Type II certified and runs on several commerce platforms.
What it costs. Not published. Pricing is custom, scoped to the program, and starts with a demo. Bubblehouse doesn't publish a Shopify App Store listing; it installs as a Shopify app through a theme app embed.
On subscriptions. Bubblehouse publishes the most subscription-specific features of the six. Its subscription loyalty product includes:
Its native Loop integration means recurring orders earn points and count toward the same tiers as one-time purchases. On Loop's side, the loyalty widget appears on the subscription details and subscription listing pages. Points, coupon and value balances are available as variables in Loop's cancellation flows.
Published results:
Choose it if subscriptions are a major share of revenue and loyalty will have an owner on your team. Skip it if you want a simple loyalty widget, since Bubblehouse offers a fully integrated, loyalty system at scale.
What it is. Rivo is a bootstrapped, Las Vegas-based loyalty, referrals and customer-accounts platform built for Shopify. It reports 7,000+ brands, is rated 4.7 across 1,441 reviews on its App Store listing, and is SOC 2 Type II compliant. Clients include HexClad, Ridge, True Classic and OSEA.
What it costs.
VIP tiers and referrals start on Scale; checkout extensions come with Plus. At 1,000 orders a month on Scale, expect to pay about $169. Rivo's own pricing page leads with its Cashback and Accounts plans and compares Scale, Plus and Enterprise in a table. The free and Essential tiers appear only on the App Store listing.
On subscriptions. Rivo's Loop integration page lists four things, all available on every Rivo plan:
On Loop's side, Rivo-generated discount codes apply to both initial and recurring subscription orders, with a widget in the portal, on the Loop Pro plan. On Rivo's case studies page, OSEA cites "Rivo's ability to sync subscriber status into custom tiers with real-time updates." The same page reports $450K in new referral revenue in the first 90 days for HexClad and a 77% repeat purchase rate among reward redeemers for OSEA.
Choose it if you're on Shopify and want subscription rewards without paying for an enterprise tier. Skip it if you sell on another platform, because Rivo is built for Shopify only.
What it is. Yotpo Loyalty is the loyalty and referrals product in Yotpo's suite, which also covers reviews. It's rated 4.7 across 970 reviews on its App Store listing. Per its pricing FAQ, it supports Shopify, Shopify Plus, BigCommerce, Adobe Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud and WooCommerce. Clients include Princess Polly, Brooklinen and Vuori.
What it costs. There's a free plan, which the App Store listing limits to stores under 100 monthly orders. Pro starts at $199/month and covers 500 orders, with per-order fees above that. Premium and Enterprise are custom-quoted. Per Yotpo's feature table, VIP tiers start on Premium, as do free-product, free-shipping and gift-card redemption. The two sources quote Pro overage differently: the App Store lists 0.08–0.20 per order, while yotpo.com lists $0.20, then $0.10, then $0.05. Confirm on a call.
On subscriptions. Yotpo's Loop Subscriptions integration page covers four use cases, supported on Yotpo Premium and Enterprise:
On Loop's side, the Yotpo loyalty widget shows on the subscription details page, and a points variable works in notifications and cancellation flows. This requires Loop Pro. Yotpo also supports subscription-based tiers. Its loyalty page cites a 59% increase in CLTV for members, as a platform figure without a named brand.
Choose it if you already run Yotpo Reviews, or you need loyalty outside Shopify. Skip it if you want subscription rewards or VIP tiers on a self-serve plan, because both are quote-only.
What it is. Smile.io is the loyalty platform with the category's largest review base. Its App Store listing shows 4.9 across 4,634 reviews, the Built for Shopify badge and a 2026 Shopify Build Award. It's Shopify Plus certified and SOC 2 Type II audited. Named results on its customers page include $1.67M in Smile-generated revenue for Live Bearded and, for Death Wish Coffee, a 186% increase in Smile-generated value (orders with a rewards code) in one year.
What it costs. From its pricing page:
Enterprise is for brands above $40M in annual revenue. At 1,000 orders on Standard you pay $79; the moment you want VIP tiers, it's $199.
On subscriptions. Subscription rewards are a Smile feature from Standard up. On Loop's side, the integration awards points to subscribers based on order activity and lets them redeem Smile-generated discount codes on their subscriptions from the customer portal, on Loop Starter and Pro.
Choose it if you want the most widely adopted option with a cheap, simple entry plan. Skip it if you want points applied without a code (Smile's subscription redemption runs on discount codes), or if you need the API below $999/month.
What it is. Okendo is a five-product Shopify customer-marketing platform: Reviews, Loyalty, Referrals, Quizzes and Surveys. It's rated 4.8 across 1,431 reviews on its App Store listing, is Shopify Plus certified and Hydrogen-ready, and reports 18,000+ brands, including SKIMS, rhode and Caraway.
What it costs.
Advanced and Enterprise are sold through Okendo's sales team. Loyalty features are available on every plan; the gating is elsewhere. On the App Store plans, email and SMS integrations such as Klaviyo start on Power, and platform or bundle subscriptions "normally require annual terms." Okendo's three-product bundles (Retain, for example, combines Reviews, Loyalty and Surveys) are priced 30% below buying each product separately.
On subscriptions. Okendo's support documentation lists Loop as fully compatible for checkout, portal redemption, and both new and existing subscription orders. Discounts can be limited to the first payment, a set number of payments, or all payments. Its partner directory page covers win-back campaigns and loyalty points in cancellation flows. On Loop's side, the widget shows on the portal subscription page with points and coupon variables, on Loop Pro. Okendo's customer stories report $21.1M in incremental revenue for Dixxon and, for NOBULL on Loyalty, a 117% increase in repeat purchases.
Choose it if you want reviews and loyalty from one vendor without loyalty features gated by tier. Skip it if you need Klaviyo below $299/month or want to avoid annual terms.
What it is. Rise.ai is a store-credit loyalty platform that rewards in real currency rather than points. It combines gift cards, referrals, cashback, store-credit refunds and wallet passes. It's rated 4.7 across 759 reviews on its App Store listing and supports Shopify, Shopify Plus and Wix. Clients include SKIMS and Dr. Squatch. Its customers page reports $1.18M in upsell revenue for Bombas from a two-day store-credit cashback campaign.
What it costs. There's no free plan. From rise.ai/pricing:
Enterprise is on quote. Annual billing takes 15–20% off.
On subscriptions. The mechanic is different from everything else here. According to Rise's dedicated Loop page, subscribers apply store credit directly to their next Loop order inside the portal, and credit can be shown in the cancellation flow. Rise describes this as a first-of-its-kind solution in the Shopify ecosystem. It requires Rise Premium. On Loop's side, a credits widget appears in the portal, on Loop Pro. Per Rise's help centre, subscribers choose how much of their balance to apply.
Choose it if you'd rather reward in credit than points, and already use gift cards or store-credit refunds. Skip it if $599.99 a month is out of range or your customers expect a points balance.
Under 500 orders a month. Rivo (free, or $49 for VIP tiers) and Smile (free, or $79 for subscription rewards) are the two that give a subscription brand what it needs without a quote. Okendo's $19 Essential plan works if you also want reviews.
500–2,500 orders a month. This is where plan gating bites:
Price the plan that has the features you need, not the entry tier.
2,500 orders a month and up, or Shopify Plus. The top published tiers are Smile Plus (999/month,annualbilling),RivoPlus(499) and Rise Premium ($599.99). Okendo Advanced and Yotpo Premium are on quote. At this size Bubblehouse, custom-priced with no listing, becomes a like-for-like comparison rather than an outlier.
Five of the six apps here reward in points. Rise.ai rewards in store credit, and Okendo and Rivo offer store credit alongside points. The difference matters more for subscription brands than for most stores. Points need a redemption step (a widget, a code, a checkout), which a subscriber on autopilot may never take. Credit applied to the next charge needs no step at all; the renewal just costs less. The trade-off is that points programs carry tiers, achievements and referral mechanics that credit programs mostly don't. A points balance also gives a subscriber a reason to come back, which a smaller invoice doesn't.
A blank cell means the app doesn't publish that capability, not that it's impossible. Ask the vendor.
Can Shopify do loyalty programs?
Not natively; Shopify doesn't include a loyalty program. Merchants add one through an app, and all six above install on Shopify.
How much do Shopify loyalty apps cost?
Smile, Rivo, Yotpo and Okendo all have free plans, usually capped between 50 and 200 orders a month. The plans that include VIP tiers and subscription rewards cost:
Overages are common. Rivo's Scale plan and Smile's Growth and Plus plans charge per 100 orders above the limit.
What are the best Shopify apps for memberships?
Rivo, Okendo (in early access) and Rise.ai publish paid-membership or membership-tier features. If you run both memberships and subscriptions, ask how the app treats a paid member who is also an active subscriber.
Do loyalty points work on subscription orders?
It depends on the app and the plan:
With all six, subscribers can redeem through the Loop customer portal, whether by widget, one-click redemption, credit or discount code.
Pick the plan, not the app. Find the tier that includes VIP tiers, subscription rewards and the integration with your subscription platform. Then price that tier at your current order volume plus a year of growth. On the demo, ask one question: when a subscriber's renewal goes through, what happens in your app, and what do they see in their portal? All six apps above have an answer. The difference is how many steps it takes.
Every integration above is documented in Loop's help centre. The full list of connected apps is in Loop's integrations directory.
